In the spirit of Carlos and Smith ( and Malcolm X ), the pictures of protests around the world...

I have no problem with people exercising their right to express their political opinions, whatever those opinions may be. And I think Chinese people should have the same right of expression in China as they have in Germany and Britain and France and elsewhere.
But if you think these demonstrations are somehow analogous to Smith and Carlos...well, then, you really don't understand Smith and Carlos in 1968.

Disagree completely. The greatest protest during any Olympics was Jesse Owens' victory at the 1936 Berlin Games.

I see what you mean, comment. But Owens, in all of his greatness, did not really protest. What he made was a statement.
