UPDATE: more on the Confucius movie here.
This just came out. It doesn't reveal anything about the plot (how will his wife be portrayed?) but the pictures are pretty. CCTV reports on it here.

Chow Yun Fat as Confucius?!? What's next, Sly Stallone as Plato and Bruce Willis as Socrates?

It looks great, it has the same atmosphere as 'Hero'. I like it, although I doubt if the setting is 100% historically correct. An honourable role for Chow Yun-Fat.

There seems to be an excessive number of crap movies coming out of China as of late. I agree with the above statement on casting Chow Yun-Fat as Confucius. The guy is a Hong Kong pop movie star, not a serious actor.

"Chow Yun Fat as Confucius?!? What's next, Sly Stallone as Plato and Bruce Willis as Socrates?" stop your typecasting, it all boils down to the talent and not WHO they are, after all they are ACTORS, and mind you, not new in this field at all.

give the guy a break. did you ever see Curse of the Golden Flower? The man can act.
knowing that Faye Wong sings the theme song is enough for me to go gaga. I wonder who does the music? sounds a little bit like Shigeru Umebayashi?
I will enjoy the day I can watch this movie
